Ocean Going Cargo
In order for ocean going cargo entering the United States to pass through customs
in a timely manner, CEESI needs to receive the information referenced in page three
of the
CBP Proposal for Advance Trade Data Elements. These documents are needed
so at that CEESI can file the appropriate forms with U.S. customs at least 24 hours
prior to a shipment being loaded. In addition, it is recommended by CEESI's import/export
agent to also include the name and address of the freight forwarder, a packing slip,
a purchase order and a ship date. CEESI's objective is not only to comply with custom
requirements, but also to be able to pre-clear the shipment through customs for
better customer service.
