Workshop Description

Over the past ten years the CEESI Ultrasonic Meter User's Workshop (formerly known as the Ultrasonic Meter Seminar in Colorado, USA) has become established as the premier event for those who want to keep up with the rapid developments in ultrasonic flow measurement. Every year the workshop includes seasoned veterans as well as brand new employees.

The pace of the workshop is often rapid and new meter users can have difficulty keeping up. To help workshop attendees get up and running, CEESI offer the Fundamentals of Ultrasonic Flowmeters Training Course. The agenda has been designed to complements the workshop by reviewing basic topics.

As the workshop expands to include gas and liquid measurement, clamp-on technology and flare measurement, the introductory course has expanded in scope. This workshop includes three half day sessions of formal lectures and a fourth half day of open discussions on student topics of choice.

Several functional meters from different vendors will be available to highlight topics covered in the formal lecture format. In addition, students can familiarize themselves with the user interface software in an academic setting.

Topics will include:
  • Basic operation
  • Installation requirements
  • AGA and API standards
  • Flow profile, swirl and turbulence
  • Diagnostics
  • Calibration and proving
  • Fluid properties
  • User interface software

Related Training Courses

Fundamentals of Ultrasonic Flowmeters

This class is designed to build a basic understanding of ultrasonic based measurement.

The pace of the Ultrasonic Meter User’s Workshop is often rapid and new meter users can have difficulty keeping up. This class is designed to help these attendees. This course agenda has been designed to complement the ultrasonic meters workshop by reviewing basic topics.

Several functional meters from different vendors will be available to highlight topics covered in the formal lecture lectures. In addition, students can familiarize themselves with the user interface software in an academic setting.

The class is divided a day and a half of formal lectures, with the final half day opened up to discussions on student topics of choice.

Comprehensive Hydrocarbon Measurement

This class is designed to establish a comprehensive understanding of hydrocarbon measurement. The four days of training provided much more detailed information than the Fundamentals of Ultrasonic Flowmeters Training Course.

The topics are divided into two groups, the first discusses meter technologies. In addition to ultrasonic meters, topics include differential producing, turbine and coriolis meters. For each meter the basic operation is described, additional information includes topics important for meter design, operation, and maintenance.

The second group consists of topics that are important to all meter designs. Subjects include installation effects, calibration, gas and liquid properties, pressure and temperature, flow computers and measurement uncertainty.
